Batting Average Calculator

Calculate batting average, slugging percentage, and other baseball statistics

About Baseball Statistics

This calculator helps you understand key batting statistics in baseball. Batting average and slugging percentage are two of the most important metrics for evaluating a hitter's performance.

Formulas

  • Batting Average (AVG) = Hits / At Bats
  • Total Bases = (1 × Singles) + (2 × Doubles) + (3 × Triples) + (4 × Home Runs)
  • Slugging Percentage (SLG) = Total Bases / At Bats

Batting Average Benchmarks

  • .300+ - Excellent (All-Star level)
  • .270-.299 - Above Average
  • .250-.269 - Average
  • .230-.249 - Below Average
  • Below .230 - Poor

Note: This calculator provides basic batting statistics. Advanced metrics like on-base percentage (OBP) and OPS (On-base Plus Slugging) require additional data such as walks and hit-by-pitches. These calculations assume all statistical inputs are accurate.
