Wallpaper Calculator

Find how many rolls of wallpaper you need based on wall dimensions and roll size

How the Wallpaper Calculator Works

Hanging wallpaper goes much more smoothly when you know exactly how many rolls to buy. This calculator works out how many full-height strips you can cut from each roll, how many strips it takes to cover your wall, and therefore how many rolls you need in total. Buying from the same batch at once helps ensure consistent color and pattern.

Formulas Used:

  • Strips per roll: floor(Roll Length / Wall Height)
  • Strips needed: ceil(Wall Width / Roll Width)
  • Rolls needed: ceil(Strips Needed / Strips per Roll)

Tips for Accurate Estimates:

  • Measure the total width of all walls you plan to cover.
  • Add extra height for pattern matching and trimming at the top and bottom.
  • Patterned wallpaper wastes more material, so consider buying an extra roll.
  • Standard European rolls are about 0.53 m (1.74 ft) wide and 10 m (33 ft) long.

Note: This calculator provides estimates based on standard formulas and assumes no pattern repeat. Actual requirements may vary due to pattern matching, waste, windows, doors, and wall irregularities. Always buy a little extra and keep rolls from the same production batch for consistent results.
