About Dollar-Cost Averaging
Dollar-cost averaging is an investment strategy in which you invest a fixed amount of money at regular intervals, regardless of the share price. When prices are low you buy more shares, and when prices are high you buy fewer. Over time this can lower your average cost per share compared with making a single lump-sum purchase at the wrong moment.
How This Calculator Works
The share price is assumed to move linearly from the starting price to the ending price across all periods. Each period you invest the same amount, buying shares at that period's price. The average cost per share is your total invested divided by the total shares accumulated.
