About OPS

OPS (On-base Plus Slugging) combines a hitter's ability to reach base with their power. It is one of the most widely used single-number metrics for evaluating offensive performance in baseball.

Formula

  • OPS = On-Base Percentage (OBP) + Slugging Percentage (SLG)

OPS Benchmarks

  • .900+ - Excellent (All-Star level)
  • .800-.899 - Very Good
  • .710-.799 - Average
  • .670-.709 - Below Average
  • Below .670 - Poor

Note: This calculator computes OPS as the simple sum of on-base percentage and slugging percentage. These calculations assume all statistical inputs are accurate and entered as decimals.
